As most of you know, the Canadian National Railway Company’s attempt to merge with the Elgin, Joliet, & Eastern Railway has been a highly controversial issue over the last six months.
The people of my district would still be adversely affected by this purchase. I still believe that allowing CN to merge with the EJ&E Railway would be devastating to our communities due to the increased traffic, noise, and pollution. I will continue the fight to prevent the merger.
I want to urge constituents who want to have their voice heard on this issue, or to hear what is at stake, to come to a local Town Hall meeting on Tuesday September 9th at West Aurora High School. The meeting will run from 4pm to 9pm and allow for those in our communities affected most to articulate their concerns and influence the process. I encourage anyone who would like to voice his or her concern to call 1-800-347-0689 early to pre-register. The opportunity to speak to will be determined on a first come-first serve basis
Because this issue affects us all so much, we should all be a part of this process. If you have concerns, please come to West Aurora High School; 1201 West New York Street, Aurora on Tuesday night to have your voice heard.
